Susan J Foster has worked as a philosophy professor, clinical psychologist, and journalist. She has published articles on the Feminism and Religion website, including one called “Why Feminism Needs the Fierce Goddesses,” which provided the basis for this book. With a PhD in philosophy, she taught philosophy at Wellesley College as well as the first women and gender studies course there. She left academia to enter a postdoctoral retraining program in clinical and community psychology at Boston University Medical Center. She currently has a private practice specializing in women’s issues. Her journalistic experience includes serving as a writer and wellness editor for a local newspaper. She lives with her partner and rambunctious cat in Asheville, N.C.
